Ghana arrests ‘Ibo Noah’

Police in Ghana arrested a young man who called himself "Ibo Noah" after claiming to have received a prophetic message. He said the heavens had sent him a note that rain would fall for three years starting December 25, and that he had been chosen to repeat the role of Noah by building ships to save people and animals from a coming deluge.

The man posted videos on social media, promoting his mission. He had hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, showing piles of wood and small boats that he claimed would rescue 600 million people.

Although his assertions were bizarre, some followers believed him, selling homes and donating money for a promised spot on the ship. Authorities intervened after the false claims spread, charging him with spreading misinformation and manipulating public opinion.

In a video, Ibo Noah drove a Mercedes wearing a felt suit, adding a message: "I prayed for three weeks, I ask for repentance, and I pray for Ghana and the world."
